30th Aug - 'Trio w/ projections' New River Studios, London, UK

So alas the first ever rummaging tour begins with a gig at New River Studios in London.

Billed as 'Experiments in rummaging' the idea for this performance was devised by Tom Blackburn and myself a month or so before. The plan was to use cheapo USB microscopes gaffer tapped to microphones which would be dropped into the containers as a object and the output projected onto the wall. The initial tests were promising but in the midst of an actual rummaging performance, things always get broken.

Within minutes camera two stopped working, then camera one and not soon after camera three. Also due to time issues (late start) and some technical problems (max msp stuff) i got a bit distracted made the mistake of forgetting to put on my gloves, ending up slicing my hands up on broken glass. The realization of the injury happened quite early on as my box was covered in blood and soon i stopped as i thought the injuury may be serious, Tom (using a small wooden box of lego and tiny objects) and Chase (using a kick drum of ping pong balls) continued to rummage until i signaled for it to stop.

With all this distraction, i never really got into the zone and presumed the crowd didn't either. There were other niggling issues to do with the sound which also bugged me but i have some ideas on how to improve it for the next shows.
